Meet Andrea
Chef • Baker • Food Blogger • Cookbook Author
Hi I'm Andrea Mut, a trained chef, baker, food blogger and cookbook author. After more than 30 years in professional kitchens, catering, teaching and recipe development, I now share simple, flavour-forward everyday recipes on My Pocket Kitchen to help home cooks feel confident in the kitchen.
My Pocket Kitchen started as a way to help people feel confident in the kitchen. After decades of working in fast-paced restaurants and running my won bakery, I learned that great food comes from simple techniques, quality ingredients and flavours that shine without extra fuss.
Most of the recipes I create land in the sweet spot where wholesome meets delicious. I care about balance, good ingredients and practicality, but I won't sacrifice flavour or rely on obscure techniques to get there. My goal is to share everyday recipes that feel good to eat and are easy to bring into your weekly routine.
What You Will Find at My Pocket Kitchen
- Simple, everyday recipes - I break down methods so they are clear, efficient and easy to follow, even on busy days.
- Recipes you can trust - Every recipe is tested by me, in my home kitchen, to make sure it works for cooks of all levels.
- Nourishing ingredients - My recipes lean into real ingredients, balanced nutrition and big flavour without any fuss or complicated techniques.
- Helpful guidance when you need it - I want you to feel confident in the kitchen. If you ever have a question about a recipe, I'm always here to help.

More About Andrea
There are many recipes I could recommend for beginners but this Chicken Fajita Casserole is so easy and impressive. Perfect for a weeknight meamakes great leftovers!
My Pocket Kitchen was born in our rented Toronto home, where a tiny kitchen became the heart of culinary creativity. Situated in a neighborhood affectionately known as 'The Pocket,' our humble abode showed that a big fancy kitchen isn't necessary to create delicious dishes. I envisioned this kitchen as my small creative pocket, where I created recipes perfect for your back pocket-proof that exceptional meals can emerge from the coziest corners.
My inspiration can come from a variety of places such as restaurant dishes, cookbooks, culinary magazines, as well as the contents of my pantry, fridge, and freezer. When recreating restaurant or cookbook recipes, I try to enhance the nutrient value and simplify the method, so anyone can recreate them.
